I was invited to develop a series of thematic documentary pieces accompanying the making of the feature film Chopin, Chopin!. From the outset, the intention was to move away from the conventional “making-of” format. Instead, the series was conceived as a parallel narrative — focused on people, their relationship to the material of the film, to music, and to the figure of Chopin himself. What interested me most was the moment of work itself: the silence between decisions, the tension preceding a choice, and the gradual process of arriving at form.
Within the project, I was responsible for the complete filmmaking process, including concept development, directing, cinematography, and editing. Each film was designed as a self-contained piece, while also forming part of a broader structure documenting the film’s journey from idea to image.
